Scrum Process

My Philosophy

I enjoy what I do for a living. I have always been compelled to find solutions to problems and this has been further strengthened by my engineering training. Engineering is process-driven and has refined my ability to systematically diagnose issues, particularly those that are not simply cosmetic, and arrive at multidimensional solutions.

UX is not always a UI solution. Many challenges require a lot of hats, not just that of a visual designer. Some issues a user faces might stem from an IT framework problem or an unnecessarily complicated business process. This is exemplified by a great quote from the Marc Hedlund blog, Why Wesabe Lost to Mint. He states, “I was focused on trying to make the usability of editing data as easy and functional as it could be; Mint was focused on making it so you never had to do that at all.” Looking beyond the visuals can make or break a business. This is what I bring to the table when I approach a problem.

My skills also allow me to bring various teams together by bridging interdisciplinary gaps. Due to my diverse background, I am able to consider various teams’ goals and pain points. I have engineering and fine-arts training, have run several businesses, and have worked in marketing, advertising and sales. This personal experience allows me to approach situations from varied perspectives and build trust with my colleagues.

Over the years, I have also learned that transparency of the process helps to keep all stakeholders up-to-date and maintain expectations. I also attempt to create a collaborative environment with access to past discoveries, information about current progress, and projections of the product timeline.
